In the footage, taken near Turriff in Aberdeenshire, snow can be seen falling heavily near a home on Wednesday night. As the blizzard continues, a huge flash of light can be seen as a bolt of lightening appears in the sky.
Scots were warned the recent freezing temperatures are likely to continue until the end of the week with power cuts likely to hit more homes. In Shetland, thousands of households were left without electricity after heavy snowfall hit the region, with SSEN warning that power may not be fully restored for another couple of days.
Braving the temperatures and treacherous road conditions, the pair - who live in Glasgow - headed towards Braemar but things turned desperate for the duo when their van broke down, leaving them stranded on the outskirts of the Aberdeenshire town.
