A weather warning for thunderstorms is in place across all of England and Wales on Sunday
A week of hot temperatures will make way for lightning, strong winds, and hale in some parts of the UK, with the stormy weather taking place between midday and midnight.
The weather warning means that there is a risk of flooding, power cuts, possible train disruption as well as difficult driving conditions and possible road closures. While there is the risk of showers overnight, the worst of the weather is expected on Sunday afternoon, when a plume of very warm air moving up from the continent brings the risk of heavy showers and further thunderstorms.
A Met Office spokesman said: “A few outbreaks of thundery rain are possible overnight and during the morning, but the main likelihood of heavy showers and thunderstorms is during the afternoon and evening, with longer spells of thundery rain in places.”
