A new winger appears to be on Philippe Clement's shopping list this summer
Tiago Gouveia has spoken out on his future amid links with Rangers - with reports now claiming that Benfica are closing the door on a potential exit this summer.
Reports had suggested that the Lisbon giants were willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old with the Scottish Premiership side named as one of three clubs to have spoken with Benfica chiefs over the prospect of taking Gouveia - with Villarreal and Anderlecht the other two said to be in the race.
Gouveia - who netted in the 3-0 win over Casa Pia - left the door open to an exit when quizzed on his future. He said: "I'm here every day waiting for opportunities. Sometimes it doesn't happen and the frustration is huge." Fiorentina’s Josip Brekalo has also been touted with a move to Ibrox on loan before the end of the month. Brekalo returned from a six-month loan at Hadjuk Split earlier this summer but has not managed to earn a second chance at the Florence club under new boss Raffaele Palladino – with reports in Italy suggesting that last season's Europa Conference League finalists are looking to offload a host of fringe players before the end of the month.
While it is claimed that the Serie A side are open to a loan deal, it is said the club want to include a mandatory £2.9m obligation to buy the 26-year-old for any suitors. Croatian outlet Index report this has cooled interested from a number of clubs.
