Tiernan Lynch says he can't wait to get stuck into the likes of Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers, even if Larne's recent humbling by the Hoops gave him 'sleepless nights'.
He said: "I had a great seven and a half years at Larne. But as soon as I met the representatives of Derry City it was a very quick decision and not too much to think about. I am well aware of how big this club is and how big a challenge lies ahead, but it is one I am relishing. He added: "I won't sit here and tell the fans any lies of make any guarantees I can't deliver on. But I can guarantee hard work. This is a massive challenge.
The Candystripes were bang in contention for the League of Ireland title until a late collapse saw them finish fourth, and then they slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Drogheda in the final of the FAI Cup. "It will be a challenge, but it is a task we're up for. And as long as the fans get behind us, we know we have the backing of the ownership and board.One challenge Lynch is relishing is pitting his wits against top sides including Shamrock Rovers and newly crowned champions Shelbourne.
