Just hours before one of the Tigers’ most famous wins in what has been a barren run, the joint venture was reminded that drama is never far away.

In the moments before the Wests Tigers launched into their new team song, handing out sheets of paper with the words on them to players, Benji Marshall wondered whether it would be a good idea for it all to be caught on camera.

With good mate and assistant coach Robbie Farah, Marshall has crafted the lyrics to the new Tigers tune, which is a nod to both their Western Suburbs and Balmain heritage. Each Tuesday, his players are told they don’t have to start at the club until 10am. It allows those with young kids to spend time with them or drop them at daycare or school. Another day a week, commitments are finished early so they can pick them up. McRae says it gets the best out of both staff and players, who are reminded a happy family life will lead to better performances on the field.

They keep the pressure up, though and force a throw-in in the right forward pocket. It ends up bouncing for Dustin Martin, who spears a pass inbound to Daniel Rioli, who marks in front. Richmond is playing better, they've dragged the inside 50 deficit back to 20-23. The Tigers are leading the clearances 12-10, and edging contested possessions 49-45. The big issue for the home side is marks inside 50. The Power have seven to Richmond's one. If that trend continues, surely Port Adelaide will make them pay
