There’s a new director-general in town and, if you’re a BBC employee and you’re sitting comfortably, then you weren’t paying attention. Tim Davie, formerly head of BBC Studios, gave his inaugural speech to staff in Cardiff today and if it wasn’t quite on a par with Brian Clough’s fabled address to his new Leeds United squad , it was certainly intended to put people on notice: the BBC must reform or die. Shape up or ship out. And please stop tweeting.
