The actor was a familiar face on TV during his long career
Timothy West, known for many roles in television and theatre, has died peacefully in his sleep aged 90. He was well-known for long stints in the soaps Coronation Street and EastEnders, as well as many other roles on stage and screen. Timothy was married to Prunella Scales, who is best known for her performance as Sybil in Fawlty Towers, for 61 years. They have two sons, Joseph West and Samuel West.
He was a regular presence on television since the 1960s, he played the king in Edward the Seventh in 1975 and one of his greatest TV success came with Great Canal Journeys, a moving series that was steered by his family’s passion for narrowboats. In a statement his family said: 'After a long and extraordinary life on and off the stage, our darling father Timothy West has died peacefully in his sleep yesterday evening. He was 90 years old. 'Tim was with his friends and family at the end.
