A Stirling baby born almost four months early while her parents were on holiday in Blackpool has defied the odds to be been flown home to Scotland months earlier than expected.

Parents Jenna Lauder, 36, and Gary Gibson, 37, were enjoying a break in the English seaside town last month when Jenna suddenly went into labour. The tot weighed just 2lbs 1oz and was immediately moved to the neonatal intensive care unit in nearby Preston.

She was flown by a private plane run by Lia’s Wings – a national charity that ensures babies and children can access vital medical treatment and care. She was accompanied by a doctor and nurse on the short flight. Jenna, a stay-at-home mum, is originally from Deanston, whilst Gary, who runs his own construction firm, hails from Callander and the family now call Stirling home.

Gary said that the family had taken to living in a caravan, at a site around 20 minutes from the hospital.
