Steve Clarke's side had fought back from 2-0 down to level but the old tales of woe returned
Scotland suffered defeat to Poland in their Nations League opener at Hampden thanks to a 97th minute penalty.
Uninspiring starting XI When Scotland’s team-sheet landed at Hampden one word immediately sprung to mind. Uninspiring. Clarke spoke all week in the build-up about bringing a freshness to this Nations League campaign after the disappointment of Euro 2024 in Germany. Not for the first time at Hampden, he tried to be a driving force for the national team last night. It was a difficult 90 minutes for the 30-year-old and the rest of his Scotland team-mates. But while others around him too often showed a lack of it in the first half especially, Robertson at least played with a level of urgency against the Poles to try and get his team in the game.
And sure enough, the first time he got the ball on the right flank - it encouraged Tony Ralston to underlap beyond him and set up Scott McTominay’s equaliser. And although they didn't get it all their own way against the Poles, Gilmour and McTominay still displayed their quality.
