The two-year-old was hit when he lost his footing and became pinned between the train and the platform.A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by an oncoming train in Lower Manhattan during the Wednesday evening commutePolice say the boy was with his 20-year-old mother, who reportedly was attempting to tie her son’s shoe when he pulled away and fell onto the tracks as the train entered the station.
Byford said: “A young boy became separated from his mom and was fatally struck by a train at 5:36 p.m. this evening.” He added: “This is a terrible tragedy for the mom involved and for a little child who has sadly lost his life here at Fulton Street today.
In their statement, the NYCT wrote: "NYC Transit and NYPD are investigation a tragic incident at Fulton Street Station where a young boy apparently became separated from his mother and was struck by a northbound number 2 train. Our heart breaks for the family.
