A Sydney community is in shock this morning after a three-year-old boy was found dead following an alleged stabbing. A man is currently under police guard in hospital as police launch a major investigation. SarahStewart_9 9News MORE:
The three-year-old was found dead and the man, 45, was found with critical injuries when emergency services attended a unit in Washington Avenue in Riverwood this afternoon.
The tragedy comes a few years after the child's mother also died, NSW Police said at a briefing tonight."This is obviously a horrific incident, anything like this is a traumatic incident for police to attend," Superintendent Sheridan Waldau said.The unit belonged to a family member of the 45-year-old, who called police to the scene for a welfare check.They said they were still trying to determine if the 45-year-old man was a relative of the boy.
