Police said it was just before 2 p.m. on East Fordham Road and Grand Concourse when a man was shooting at a group of men outside of Capital One Bank.
A 2-year-old was shot in the hip in the Bronx Saturday, and police are in search of a possible suspect."First it was like pow, pow, and everyone kind of froze because you're like what is that? It could've been a motorcycle backfire," a witness said.The men began running across the street towards the TD bank as the suspect fired multiple shots, according to witnesses. None of the shots hit the men, but rather a two-year-old who was walking with his mom in front of the bank.
That's something unheard of, especially in the daylight," a witness said.The suspect was last seen on Creston Avenue wearing blue jeans and a red sweatshirt. The suspect is believed to be a man in his 30s. The toddler is in stable condition and is expected to survive. The boy is scheduled to undergo surgery, police said. FOX 5 NY's Richard Giacovas said the shooting happened the day before the 2-year-old's birthday.
