A stepfather on trial for murdering a toddler was accused by his partner of 'smothering' him to stop him crying, a court heard today.
He said their relationship had been 'rocky' because of Roberts's 'mental health issues' and 'mood swings.' He said Roberts told him she had been sat outside the bedroom door before going downstairs so 'she didn't think she was trying to ear drop on me putting him to bed.'
