Daley retires as the most successful British diver ever, first competing at Beijing 2008 as a 14-year-old and going on to win five Olympic medals and four world championship golds.
Daley was one of Team GB’s two flagbearers in last month’s opening ceremony and has long been one of Britain’s most recognisable sporting figures.Having come out as gay in 2013, the 30-year-old has been an outspoken pro-LGBT+ rights advocate and was awarded an OBE in 2022., said: “It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive.
