This marks the end of an era for Aquatics GB diving, as Figueiredo leaves behind a legacy of success.
During her time with the organization, she coached divers to a total of eight Olympic medals, including podium finishes for Noah Williams and Scarlett Mew Jensen at the recent Paris 2024 Games. This performance solidified GB's position as a dominant force in diving, achieving their best-ever result at a Games. Figueiredo expressed her gratitude for the incredible experience, describing it as the most exciting and fulfilling period of her career. She emphasized that her decision to step down is personal, driven by a desire to prioritize her well-being and spend time with loved ones. Aquatics GB Performance Director Chris Spice lauded Figueiredo's profound impact on the organization, highlighting her divers' consistent success at multiple Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships. Spice particularly emphasized the longevity of Daley's success under Figueiredo's coaching, winning medals at three consecutive Olympics and securing three world titles. Born in Zimbabwe, Figueiredo represented Portugal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics before transitioning to coaching at the University of Houston.
