In a creative blend of traditional makeup effects and digital de-aging, both actors seamlessly transition between their teenage selves and their 80-year-old counterparts throughout the film’s expansive timeline. A CGI version of the actor appears in the 2004 computer-animated Christmas film The Polar Express, and he was digitally de-aged using AI technology in scenes from 2022's A Man Called Otto.
