She says she wants her shows to be a space for people who often don’t feel like they can be themselves elsewhere. This transcript has been lightly edited for clarity.Hi everybody. My name is the Evening Star. If you’re at home, you can say, “Hello, Evening Star.” I hope that you did it. Also known as. I’m on the Indigequeer Tour. It’s this thing that I’m doing where I’m going all over the place and just having as good a time as I possibly can with all the people that I like.
It’s hard to explain, because it’s not — I could say, like, “Yeah, I DJ, I play live music.” I have guest performers. There’s drag. There’s like, burlesque moments, there’s a lot. But I think at the core of it, it’s community. It’s like being able to let go. Young people of many different ethnicities would come to me and just say, like, “Oh, this is so amazing. This is a place where I feel very normal.”
