A TOP cop has spoken out after a man was convicted following the death of a man in a Glasgow flat in a 'senseless and reckless' act.
Junaid Saddique, 55, pled guilty to culpable homicide after neighbour Rahul Takur died in the blaze which Saddique set in his own flat.Now Detective Inspector Darren Munogee has condemned Saddique's actions in a statement. He said: “Rahul Thakur died as a result of his neighbour setting fire to his own flat in what was a senseless and reckless act.
“The consequences of such actions are absolutely devastating and we hope this outcome will be of some comfort to Rahul’s family and friends.Saddique started the fire at the flat on Lincluden Path in the city's Pollokshields on June 1, 2021, in a bid to 'get a move quicker' from his housing association.Saddique said he was"really upset" he had caused the death of a"good neighbour".
