On Sunday at 4:11 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in effect until 4:45 p.m. for Greene and Washington counties.
"At 4:11 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 11 miles northwest of Waynesburg, moving east at 30 mph," says the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."The weather service adds, "Take cover now! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
While it doesn't mean a tornado is imminent, it's a heads-up that you should be ready to act quickly if a Tornado warning is issued or if you suspect a tornado is approaching.
