Tory by-election candidate Andrew Cooper posted a chart on Facebook and insulted hard-up parents.
A Tory by-election candidate said parents who are out of work and are struggling to feed their kids should “f*** off”, in a post on Facebook.
If elected as MP, Mr Cooper will be responsible for helping families across the constituency who are struggling with the cost of living. According to figures from the End Child Poverty Coalition, almost a third of children in the Tamworth area were in poverty in 2021/22, around 6,548 children in total.
“I am shocked but frankly not surprised at this behaviour, given the last Tory MP for the area resigned in disgrace. Tamworth has an opportunity to vote for a fresh start on Thursday with Sarah Edwards who will be a hard-working champion for the town.”
