Just seven of new Prime Minister's top team are women - and 65% attended private schools
Mr Sunak sacked Chloe Smith, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Wendy Morton and Vicky Ford from the Cabinet and demoted Truss ally Thérèse Coffey, removing her role as Deputy Prime Minister. However, he promoted Gillian Keegan, who is now Education Secretary, and Vicky Prentis, who as Attorney General can attend Cabinet but is not a full-time member.A former Cabinet minister questioned whether Mr Sunak’s age meant he might be less likely to see the gender divide as an issue.

, with 65 per cent of Mr Sunak’s ministers attending the fee-paying sector, including the Prime Minister himself, who went to the elite boarding school, Winchester College. and Mr Johnson’s first Cabinet , but much higher than the level in Theresa May’s 2016 Cabinet . It is also up on the figure for David Cameron’s 2015 Cabinet and well above the 32 per cent in Tony Blair and Gordon Brown’s Cabinets.
The analysis was published by social mobility charity, The Sutton Trust, whose founder and chairman, Sir Peter Lampl, said: “While his Cabinet is marginally more representative than Truss’s, Tuesday’s appointments highlight how unevenly spread opportunities to enter the most prestigious positions continue to be.
