Tory splits over 2024 electric vehicle sale deadlines latest headache for Rishi Sunak

While EVs make up 37.8 per cent of cars produced by UK manufacturers, the vast majority of those are exported. The 22 per cent mandate is for sales and for each individual brand rather than a target for the overall market.
