It's all kicking off down the mushroom farm
Villagers have slammed "chaotic" roadworks which have seen a main road cut off with little notice and bin lorry crash into a ditch.
A fresh row broke out when the plans were modified by the firm behind it, with a newer application seeking to change key details of how the facility operates. Concerns about those issues remain deeply contentious among those living nearby and a more unhappiness has been caused by the road closure.The closure first came into place on Monday and could last for up to eleven days.
James Houghton owns the Pumpkin Patch farm shop on Heatons Bridge Road and says footfall has been hit during the closure. He has particularly been left frustrated by an apparent lack of notice by those enforcing the closure, both for those living nearby and the bus service which passes along the road.
"Yesterday, the diversion was down a little single track road which most people round here know but yesterday a bin lorry went into a ditch." According to James, the works were supposed to include a stipulation that access would be maintained for school buses around pick up time but the road was never opened to them on Tuesday.
