Despite a challenging Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou remains confident in the club's ability to attract new talent. He highlights the club's strong competitiveness in other cup competitions as a major draw for potential signings.
Ange Postecoglou , appointed Tottenham manager in July 2023, led the club to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season. Despite Spurs currently sitting in 15th place in the league following a seven-game winless run, Postecoglou insists the club remains an appealing destination for potential new signings .
He emphasized the club's opportunity for success in the remaining months of the season, highlighting their strong contention for three other trophies: the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and Europa League. Postecoglou acknowledged the challenges posed by a depleted squad, with nine first-team players absent for Sunday's league fixture against Brentford due to injuries. Spurs have yet to sign any outfield players this January transfer window, with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky's £12.5m move from Slavia Prague being their only addition. When questioned about the attractiveness of Tottenham to potential signings, Postecoglou stated: 'It depends what the players are looking for. You can look at it two ways. OK the league form is not great but there's some pretty big possibilities to have success here in the last three or four months. It's still a big club, it's still a club that can challenge for honours and it's whether the player sees the potential that we see right now, or certainly that I see. If it's too much of a hard sell, it's probably not the right one for us.'The club currently holds a 1-0 lead over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, with the second leg scheduled for next week. They have also progressed to the FA Cup fourth round and the last 16 of the Europa League. While Postecoglou declined to comment directly on Tottenham's rumored interest in Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, he confirmed that the club is 'exploring some opportunities in the last couple of days of the window,' which closes on Monday at 23:00 GMT. He emphasized the importance of finding the right players who align with the club's vision and strategy, stating: 'That's why we've been looking for a player or two to help us with what's ahead, but they have to be the right types and fit in with what we're doing. I guess that's the tricky bit. There are plenty of players available but are they going to be the right ones? That's the question for us.
