Balloons and heartfelt messages were left for the star
Crowds gathered in Nottingham to pay tribute to musician Liam Payne . The One Direction star died on Wednesday, October 16, after he tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina.
Thousands of people have been mourning the singer's death across the globe, with vigils being held in cities like Birmingham and London. On Sunday, October 28, fans gathered at the Robin Hood Statue in Nottingham to pay their respects to the singer. Dozens of people attended the vigil, which is understood to have taken place around 6pm. Bouquets of flowers, candles and photos have been left at the statue, as well as balloons and posters with handwritten messages on them.
Touching messages were left such as "always in our hearts" and "you gave us so much to remember." It has recently been reported that just over an hour before his untimely death, Liam told a fan about his affection for Buenos Aires and his aspiration to purchase a property there. Diana Gauna, a devoted fan, recounted their conversation on the Argentinian TV show TN Central, said: "He said he loved the city and would like to buy a home here, that he loved the countryside around Buenos Aires."
