Johnrose died aged 52 on Monday and Payton shared his memories of a popular player with Lancs Live
Andy Payton played alongside Lenny Johnrose in Burnley's promotion winning team of 2000 and paid tribute to his former team-mate following his death after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
Payton described Johnrose as strong, tough and someone with a massive heart, attributes he showed in his playing career and after his MND diagnosis in 2018. "He was massively popular in the dressing room, he would argue about anything and usually he knew all the answers! He would say what he felt, to the gaffer or the players or anyone. Nothing deterred him.
We asked Burnley fans for their memories of a player who had three separate spells at Turf Moor and they shared warmth and love for the popular midfielder.“Len lived with this brutal disease in the public eye after choosing to announce his diagnosis in the summer of 2018. Following that he selflessly dedicated huge amounts of time to raising awareness,” the statement said.
