Teen wins national awards for his community work fighting youth crime
Khan Odita from Toxteth has picked up two awards at the 26th National Crimebeat awards, held in London. National Crimebeat is the youth crime prevention charity of the High Sheriffs’ Association of England.
Khan was nominated by the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Ruth Hussey and Merseyside Police Sergeant Rachael Moorcroft. Both have shown support for the work Khan has been doing with MSAG. Aged 14 Khan set up the MSAG, and after working hard for the next couple of years secured a grant supported by the Liverpool City Region and Mayor Steve Rotheram, and was able to realise his ambition and created UrbanScape. The fly-tipped site, that had antisocial-behaviour too, was transformed into a multipurpose modern-greenspace.
