Toy Story 3 Andy with Woody next to Monsters Inc's Randall
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Despite not having characters in common, Toy Story subtly paid off a dark Monsters Inc. moment, which is made worse by two theories. Pixar is now a powerhouse in animation and is synonymous with high visual and narrative quality, and it all started in 1995 with Toy Story.
At the beginning of Monsters Inc., the monsters are instructed to avoid all contact with humans and to not bring any objects from the human world into their own. Monsters think humans are toxic and can kill a monster through physical contact, but they use their screams as energy for their world. At one point, Randall says he heard that humans “skin monsters and make toilet covers out of their fur”, with Sulley ignoring his words and calling them “nonsense”.
When Bonnie is in the bath, the audience gets a good look at the bathroom and its decoration, including a toilet cover with fur exactly like Sulley’s. While Pixar is known for including Easter eggs of past and future movies in their works and the toilet cover is obviously a nod to Monsters Inc., it also pays off Randall’s comment, and it’s even worse after Sulley called it “nonsense”.
The blue monster who runs back in fear after the kid in his assigned room touches him and worries he might die is believed to have been Sid’s monster, this as a poster in the kid’s room is one also found in Sid’s room. However, the monster says the kid was a girl, so he might have come into contact with Hannah rather than Sid, for some reason.
