Toyota could get $24.4 million in tax breaks and other incentives from city of San Antonio for a $531.7 million plant expansion and new jobs.
The San Antonio City Council will vote next week on whether to award $24.4 million in the form of tax breaks, a grant, fee waivers and funds for infrastructure improvements to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. in exchange for the automaker doing a half-billion-dollar expansion of its South Side plant. Toyota is considering spending $531.7 million to build a 500,000-square-foot facility, install new equipment and create at least 411 new full-time jobs at its plant.
Toyota and Bexar County to negotiate tax break for automaker’s $531.7 million factory investment Toyota could also receive a tax break and grant worth nearly $15 million from Bexar County and another $2 million from the state of Texas for the expansion. The company plans to apply for the state’s Texas Enterprise Zone program, a state sales and use tax refund program. Toyota’s project would be its largest capital infusion in the plant since it began operating in 2006.
