The devil works hard, but Tracee Ellis Ross’s outfits work harder. In a new series of posts on her Instagram Story, the Black-ish alum showed off her latest fit, which took the workwear aesthetic and completely upended it, the way only Ross’s looks can.While the actor loves a good pop of color—whether it’s a grassy-green Dries Van Noten sweater or a hot-pink Alaïa Teckel bag—she decided to dial it back tone-wise with this ensemble, opting for a mostly black-and-white color scheme.
The black dress looked like a pair of overalls up top, where the cross straps snaked across the actor’s shoulders and hooked onto studs on the front bib. But it was at the bottom where things really got interesting, as the piece converted into a long sunburst pleated skirt, which featured large puffy pockets attached on the back.To create a bit of contrast, Ross layered the dramatic workwear over a crisp white dress shirt—which was sleeveless, by the way.
