Get ready for Christmas Eve as NORAD and Google offer tools to track Santa's global flight path.

The festive season is in full swing, with Christmas Day just around the corner. As we approach the big day, children everywhere are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of Santa visiting their homes to deliver presents. Santa has a busy night ahead, as he needs to visit countless homes across the globe. To add to the excitement, you and your family can track Santa's progress as he journeys around the world on his sleigh.

This is made possible by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), who utilise their state-of-the-art satellites and tracking equipment each Christmas to monitor Father Christmas' journey. They're not alone in this endeavour - Google also offers its own Santa tracker. The tradition of tracking Santa began in 1955 with the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD), in 1955. When NORAD replaced CONAD in 1958, they continued the mission of tracking Santa's global flight, a tradition that has been upheld every year since. Santa typically begins his journey in the Pacific Ocean early on Christmas Eve (UK time) and travels west. After delivering presents to the islands in the South Pacific, he then visits the children of New Zealand and Australia. You can then track his journey as he heads to Japan, traverses the rest of Asia, moves on to Africa, Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and finally Central and South America. While we can't provide a precise time for when he'll be soaring over Merseyside - only Santa himself knows his exact route - based on his usual path, anticipate his arrival in the UK between 9pm and midnight on December 24. Father Christmas and his reindeers are flying over Russia having already delivered 60 million presents. Santa is preparing for his trip around the world. While NORAD is capable of tracking his global journey, the precise details of Santa's route remain a closely guarded secret known only to Saint Nick himsel
