Delays are expected

Translink has detailed public transport arrangements and traffic disruption to be aware of as the King and Queen Consort are due to arrive in Northern Ireland on Tuesday. King Charles will arrive in Belfast tomorrow and make way to Hillsborough Castle for several engagements.

There will be a private audience with Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris as well as meeting with representatives of political parties. Charles and Camilla will also travel to St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast where they will attend a service of reflection for the life of the Queen. They will then undertake a walkabout at Writers’ Square before leaving Northern Ireland.On Monday, a Translink spokesperson confirmed that shuttle buses to Hillsborough will be available for several hours tomorrow morning. And they urged those using public transport in and around Belfast City Centre, to expect delays.For anyone who wants to be in Royal Hillsborough during the visit of His Majesty the King and Queen Consort, shuttle bus services will be available from 7.00am - 10.30am departing from both Lisburn Train Station and the Eikon Centre. General public shuttle bus services to/from Royal Hillsborough will then resume again from 4.00pm – 8.00pm . The public is reminded that there is no parking permitted in Royal Hillsborough.Due to the visit, there will also be traffic diversions in Belfast City Centre impacting Translink services in the area. Customers should expect some delays and leave extra time for their journeys. For any further information about official proceedings during the Period of Mourning visit www.nio.gov.uk ."A spokesperson said: "Preparations are underway in Belfast city centre for the arrival of King Charles III tomorrow . "After engagements at Royal Hillsborough, the new monarch will visit the city with the Queen Consort for a service of reflection for Queen Elizabeth II at St Anne's Cathedral at 3pm. "They will pass through Wellington Place, Donegall Square North, Chichester Street and Victoria Street, and members of the public are welcome along the route. "The service at St Anne’s Cathedral, for invited guests only, will also be broadcast live on a big screen in City Hall grounds from 3pm.
