Road resurfacing works carried out overnight in Stretford have left residents furious due to excessive noise and disruption. Local residents report being unable to sleep and experiencing negative impacts on their mental health.
Trafford Council has issued a new statement after roadworks caused 'nights of hell' in Stretford . Workers were carrying out resurfacing works overnight from 10.30pm to 6.30am, between September 30 and October 5.
Last week, one resident, who lives in an apartment block on Kingsway, told the M.E.N she had endured 'nights of no sleep' after workmen and heavy machinery wreaked havoc on her and neighbours. Another local resident, Deborah White, claimed the works made her a 'prisoner' in her own home and said the noise and vibrations from the drilling forced her to put her house on the market.
“Once the roadworks are completed in a few weeks’ time, the Kingsway junction will be a much safer junction for pedestrians to use. The extra footpaths, lighting, improved bus stops and extra crossing points for pedestrians to use will make it easier to walk to and from the town centre.
