Five people were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a multi-vehicle crash
A person has tragically died in hospital following a horror multi-vehicle crash on the M65 this morning.
Lancashire Constabulary said the collision involved three vehicles at junction 9. Five people were taken to hospital with serious injuries and one person sadly died.A force spokesperson told LancsLive: "At around 3:37am we were called to reports of a collision at Junction 9 of the M65 involving 3 vehicles. Emergency services attended and five people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, one person has very sadly died.
National Highways said: "The M65 in Lancashire is closed in both directions between J8 and J10 due to a serious road traffic collision. Lancashire Police and emergency services are currently in attendance." Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the Solid Diamond diversion symbol on road signs.
