Human remains believed to be those of a missing man have been found in wetlands in New South Wales. 7NEWS
Police say the remains and some personal belongings were found by a bushwalker on Saturday in the Belmont Wetlands, near the Kalaroo Road fire trails.
“Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District attended and established a crime scene,” NSW Police said. “While the remains are yet to be formally identified, they are believed to be that of the missing 72-year-old man.The 72-year-old had been missing since November 2022.“It is with mixed emotions that I post the news that our John has finally been located,” Sue Davidson wrote.
“He was found in dense scrub close to his last sighting on Fernleigh track some seven months after his disappearance.Sue had previously written on social media that the 72-year-old had advanced dementia.
