Tragic new details have emerged about the death of one of two men who died after attending the Knockout music festival in

“We are saddened by the death of two people after attending a festival in Sydney,” the Australian Festival Association said in a statement.Nine other people were urgently taken to hospital from Knockout Outdoor and one from the Listen Out music festival, which was also held over the weekend, at Centennial Park in the city’s eastern suburbs.

At Listen Out, illegal drugs were allegedly found on 85 festival-goers, 37 of whom were issued court attendance notices. “Pill testing is not going to stop that from happening and I need to make sure that when decisions are made about festival safety — which is our primary concern — it’s done with the full information on the table,” he said.

Advocates for reform have called for immediate changes to prevent more deaths over the summer festival season.Jen Ross-King, whose teenage daughter Alex died after taking a cocktail of two MDMA capsules, alcohol and energy drinks before a festival in 2019, on Monday begged for a policy shift to ensure “no one else loses their child”.
