Winds of 90mph brought trees onto rail tracks and electric cables, forcing trains to be cancelled at multiple stations across the UK. Disruptions are expected to continue throughout Sunday, while workers attempt to clear debris.
Parts of the covering at Westbury Station were blown off onto the rail tracks in the last few hours of this morning.The station has been closed as it has become unsafe for people.As a result, no trains will call at Westbury until further notice.National Rail said: ‘GWR are looking at various alternatives, but do not expect to be able to source enough road transport to meet the demand, therefore customers are encouraged to delay their plans for today.
