Manchester United are not expected to be big spenders in the January transfer window despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe's imminent minority stake in the club. The INEOS owner is set to acquire 25 per cent of the club in a deal worth £1.3bn.
The move would also see Sir Jim acquire control of the club's football operations. The deal is still being finalised. As revealed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in an interview to The Athletic last month, the Glazer family, who are still majority shareholders, usually allow their managers three big signings a year.Furthermore, United generally prefer to do the bulk of their business in the summer.
