TV's Queen of Clean Lynsey Crombie has shared a simple yet effective way to clean white socks after her son's became 'filthiest' - and it does not involve using bleach
Have you ever noticed how your socks go from dazzling white to dull and mucky after a few uses? The good news is that restoring their former glory is a piece of cake, according to a TV clean queen.
She took to Instagram sharing her brilliantly easy technique to wash socks using bicarbonate of soda. In her video demonstration, she cleans her son's "filthiest white socks" by dunking them in a tub filled with warm water, and laundry detergent, followed by "a scoop" of baking soda. After letting a concoction of warm water, laundry soap and baking powder soak for a bit, she used a mini washboard to scrub the socks becoming pristine white once more, reports the Express. As she demonstrates her method, she says: "Love my washboard, perfect when hand washing, old school cleaning at its best. However, you can also get the same outcome by soaking socks in the baking soda mixture for around 30 minutes before tossing them into a standard washing machine cycle.
