Talks are ongoing between Translink and private bus operators Aircoach and Dublin Express regarding access to the new Belfast Grand Central Station. This comes as train services are expected to begin running from the station next weekend, marking a significant milestone for Northern Ireland's public transport.
The head of Translink says talks are continuing to allow two private bus operators , Aircoach and Dublin Express , access to the new Belfast Grand Central Station .
Translink has also been advertising on its website that the line closure between Lisburn and Belfast's Lanyon Place station will end at midnight on October 13, meaning that the first trains would start rolling in and out of Northern Ireland's new £340million public transport hub from that date. Translink has also been in talks with private companies Aircoach and Dublin Express over access to the new station. The two private bus operators are carrying increasing numbers of passengers travelling to Dublin Airport and city centre. Both offer direct routes to and from Belfast's Glengall Street and unlike many of Translink’s services, they don't stop in several towns and cities on the way.
When asked how ongoing talks were going with Aircoach and Dublin Express over access to the new station, Mr Conway told BBC Radio Ulster's Good Morning Ulster on Friday: "We've always been very open that there are opportunities there to look for access in the future when the station is fully open. At the minute we're working with them for temporary access for them in the interim so those talks are continuing.
