Travelling during autumn often means extra baggage weight due to bulky layers, but I needn't have worried
After booking an autumn trip abroad, I decided to set myself a challenge to see if I could travel with Ryanair using just hand luggage and have enough to get me through.
Ryanair is well-known for being a budget airline with little legroom and tight policies around the size of hand luggage they permit onboard. Their current restrictions state you can bring a small personal bag measuring 40x20x25cm, which must fit under the seat in front of you. For our trip, I was able to pack two dresses, six tops , underwear and socks for each day, tights, trainers, and pyjamas, as well as a liquids bag for my skincare products and makeup, an eyeshadow palette, toothbrush, and chargers. While we were away, I bought a snowglobe, book, and t-shirt which also fit into the cabin bag with ease on our return trip.
All in all, this challenge has helped me rethink how much I really need to be bringing on a trip. I didn't feel like I didn't have enough clothing during our five-day trip and was surprised at how many of my own toiletries I was able to bring along too.
