Trees have fallen down, roads closed and tiles blown from buildings as Storm Lilian wreaks havoc across the county
With a yellow weather warning for wind and gusts reaching up to 60mph, Storm Lilian has battered much of the country last night.
The storm has brought on strong winds for much of Lancashire, with the warning in place from yesterday evening to this morning. The Met Office warned the storm could lead to disruption to travel and infrastructure today, including damage to buildings as tiles are blown off roofs. Power cuts may even occur as a result of the storm, with Electricity North West implementing extra measures in advance. Much of Lancashire woke up this morning to fallen trees on roads, leading to closures on their morning commute.According to Blackpool Police, fire services are currently working on removing tiles from the roof of a building on Woodfield Road in the seaside town. They currently have a closure on Bolton Street from the junction of Woodfield Road and St Chad's Road.
According to traffic alert site Inrix, A570 Southport Road was also partially blocked in both directions due to a fallen tree on Pinfold Lane. Also, there had been reported of slow traffic due to a fallen tree on A586 Garstang Road East in both directions between A585 Garstang New Road in Singleton to Moonstone Crescent in Poulton-le-Fylde.
