Liverpool Academy director Alex Inglethorpe believes it is only a matter of time before Trent Alexander-Arnold is captain of the first-team
Liverpool Academy director Alex Inglethorpe admits he would be "astounded" if Trent Alexander-Arnold doesn't one day become club captain - and hailed the Reds' No.66 for the "inspirational" speech he recently delivered to the Reds' first-year scholars.
Speaking at Singapore's National Stadium just hours after Jurgen Klopp made public his decision to appoint Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk as Liverpool's successors to Milner and Henderson, the No.66 admitted it was a moment that "made me smile" after reiterating how much "hard work" had gone into reaching such a significant landmark.
"I would be astounded if Trent saw the role of vice-captain as being the endgame for him because I would have thought he will be relishing the role of learning in that position with the new responsibility, but also to use that at some point in the future to put the armband on for real."
