After winning eight of their last 11 games last season, the Jags and their third-year QB won't be resting on their laurels this fall.
“As good a year as we had last year, there was still so much left for us and even more so being close like we were,” Lawrence said. “You get a taste and you’re like, ‘We can beat these teams. We can play with these teams.’ We had our opportunity. We had our shot and didn’t take advantage of it, but we should. It’s a real scenario where we could be playing the AFC Championship Game, win that and we’re in the Super Bowl. And that’s from starting 2-6 and being 4-8.
On the practice field, Lawrence is a perfectionist who gets ticked off if he makes a mistake in individual drills. If he misses a throw or even a read based on the play call, he’ll want to step back in there and do it again.Aside from the drive for greatness, Lawrence got that taste of success. He was a national champion and a consistent winner in college, something that must have felt like an eternity ago during that rocky rookie season.
