The North Pole rescue and its owner are facing two animal cruelty charges.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Indicted on two animal cruelty charges in June 2022, the trial date is now set for Donna Buck-Davis and her North Pole animal rescue, Loving Companions.
Buck-Davis and Loving Companions are also facing the Class A Misdemeanor of failing to care for an animal. Allegations leading to that criminal count cited a 2022 incident involving a black and white cat, named Joe. The documents also say Buck-Davis allowed at least one of the puppies to get adopted, despite suspicions the animal was ill with the virus.At Tuesday’s scheduling conference, the prosecution estimated the August trial will last one and a half to two weeks, saying the number of witnesses could lead to a trial longer than run-of-the-mill proceedings.
