The Nottingham man was well known in sport and for his charity work
An Invictus Games athlete and Royal Navy veteran has passed away at the age 54. Jamie Weller, of Nottingham, died on Wednesday, November 27.
The Invictus Games Foundation shared a tribute on Facebook stating: "We at the Invictus Games Foundation are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Jamie Weller, a member of the Invictus Family and a UK competitor at the Invictus Games Toronto 2017. "He was fun, passionate, committed and had a brilliant sense of humour. Jamie truly was a part of TDP and will be deeply missed by us all. Our thoughts are with Jamie's family and many friends at this sad time."
"For many years Jamie was a very talented member of the growing creative community within the military. He soon discovered a love for performing, in particular, stand-up comedy and this year Jamie was selected as a spoken word winner of The STARTS Award. On stage, with his beloved dog Freddie at his side, he shared his experiences and exploits as a veteran with visual impairment with wit and mischief. He was a natural entertainer.
