Her son, Jake Matthews-Power, said: “My mum was a kind, lovely and bubbly person who was very passionate about her job.”Her brother, Lee Matthews, who worked as a voluntary support worker for a couple of months at The Hollins while Michelle was also working at the school, says the pupils ‘really respected’ her and ‘looked up’ to her. He said: “Michelle was quirky and she liked a glass of red wine. She had a no nonsense but firm approach and she had a good ear. They all loved her at the school.
“To quote classical author Thucydides: What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”
