The 39-year-old was killed in her home in New York on Saturday
The owner of the New York pub where a young Irish woman worked before she was shot dead, has paid tribute to her.
The Co Louth native was the mother of a nine-year-old girl and had been living in the US for around five years.Police said that a gun was found next to the body of a 33-year-old man, Joed Taveras, who was known to Denise, at the scene. Investigators believe that evidence indicates he shot Denise and then took his own life.
Owner Roy Guzman told IrishStar.com that Denise had eaten at the pub with her daughter Molly on Friday evening, and had just returned home from work when she was killed later that night.“She came to eat at The Cottage every Friday. She loved the pork chops. She ordered those with her little girl and then she went home and then went to work.
Denise worked at The Cottage for over a year and left an impression not only with her fellow staff members but also with countless customers. Roy said: “She was a really good girl. She was such a hard worker and she was so kind. She was happy all the time. The team is hoping to launch a GoFundMe page to help Denise’s family in the coming weeks and said that they want to do all that they can to help.
