Very sad news, RIP
Peter Woosey was a plumber and central heating engineer, who was born in Chorley in 1947 and raised as one of five children on Brown Street in the town. He was much-loved in the area, working as a self-employed plumber for almost 20 years and as one for the council for another 20 years, before retiring a decade ago due to ill-health.
Janet and Angela explained that he "could read hieroglyphics" and had visited Egypt around 12 to 13 times in his life. However, around three years ago Peter lost his sight and was unable to read the hieroglyphics he had enjoyed for decades. Instead, he joined in on regular Zoom meetings and listened to people talking about his favourite subject.
Despite this, he still remained a much-loved and popular face in Chorley, with many people recognising him as he entered many homes and spoke with many residents through his work. "He was also a great grandad and had a lot of time for them." However, it was on 9 March that Peter suffered a "catastrophic" bleed on his brain that effectively put him "straight in a coma."
