Tributes pour in for 'gent' and 'legend' Paul McDonagh
Whisky "icon" and owner of The Bon Accord, Paul McDonagh, was well known for his love and advocacy for both whisky and real ale over the decades - building an international reputation and putting Glasgow on the map for the bar's single malt Scotch whisky, cask ale range and world famous steak pie.
Many establishments and close friends have taken to social media to share their love and appreciation for the "legend". The Glasgow Distillery Co shared a post to their Facebook: "We’re deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of our good friend, Paul McDonagh. A celebrated publican and icon within the whisky industry, Paul was a big supporter of The Glasgow Distillery since day one and was dear to our hearts.
"Paul and the Bon have sponsored the Corries since our foundation in 2010, and we may never have got up and running at all without his kind support. We weren’t the first, either, with the Bon having helped plenty of other amateur teams over the years. "Glasgow has lost a good man and a true gent, and the pub scene will be the poorer for it. Rest in peace Paul, we look forward to toasting your memory soon in the pub you built into Glasgow’s best."
